Great break this week! Only one Dr at work. And, we found a good deal on strawberries, so Christie, Kristy, Lucy, Grandpa and I made jam. Liz had already gotten hers done, Reed and Allyson and family had gone to Bryce canyon for the break, and Laura was on her way to Colorado so we went to work here. Christie had warned Lucy that if she came she would probably be bored, but she still wanted to come and we are glad she did. She was great help! Our jam making days are not without stories. Kristy wanted to use up some sugar that had been in storage for awhile. So grandpa poured it into 2 batches and was getting ready to pour it into a third, when Christie started complaining that it wasn't dissolving like the others. She kept stirring and stirring until she decided to "taste" it. I wish I had the camera going at that point. Her expression says it all. Turns out the "sugar" was really salt! It was in a mislabeled bucket. So eventually we laughed--after both Christie and Kristy got the taste out of their mouths--and pushed on. We did pretty good, finishing up just before 10:00. Friday we went over to Tom's and Kristy's and watched the kids there over night. John came over and hung out. It was good to have him there. Tom had to start his marathon at 6 in the morning and Kristy started the half marathon at 7, so they stayed in SL overnight. The boys were running in the 1K so we got them there at 10:00 the next morning. Kristy was already done! She got to be there to see the boys run. Then they got the treats--best part of the race. John helped us find stuff to do while we were waiting for Tom. This was the highlight of our wait-- riding the escalators Then we waited---- and waited--- and waited. Kristy waited for awhile and then decided she would go to find him and run the rest of the way back with him. I can't believe she did that cause she was hurting, but I think it gave him an extra boost. Finally here they came! The boys ran out to meet them and run some with them This was with 3 blocks left to go-- Finally the finish line! He did it! Way to go! What an awesome achievement. I don't think I have ever seen anyone so exhausted, but he kept going. Today, they are hurting, but they did it--(don't understand wanting pain) After the run, I had a great treat still awaiting. Christie came and met me and we went to see Wicked. I loved it even more the second time! It was great fun and great music and great company. I want to go again! Let's make plans.

Thanks so much for all your help, we couldn't have done it without you! And we're so grateful you came to support us! As for the salt in the jelly I figure it's been 3 years since the bugs in the soup so watch out if we do canning in another 3 years! Maybe it's a 3 year curse! And I will make a few batches to make up for the ruined ones! Thanks again!
Mom,
Thanks again for WICKED! I felt so lucky to be seeing it and being with you was wonderful. Thanks for a wonderful memory and great experience! Love you
Oh and Kristy.. 3 year nothing, what about the "mysterious runny batch from last year?" j/k
The salt thing is hilarious. Its always something!
I think the favortism towards your oldest daughter is uncalled for. She gets to go to all the good stuff. I think I am gonna have to clobber her. I am still feeling green with envy if you cant tell.
WAY TO GO TOM!!! WOOHOO! What a tough guy! I love that Kristy, Isaac and Joshy ran with him to the finish line.
