Visitors

Imagine our surprise when we saw a bunch of dried grass and twigs coming out of our barbecue a month of so ago. Dad opened it up to see a new family of 5 little blue robin eggs. We were pretty excited to see the end results but sadly, the mother ended up abandoning the nest. We did have two other nests of robin eggs though in the pine trees in front and back and that was fun to see them hatch and learn to fly. Reed and Allyson ended up doing a home-cation. They sent the children to us to watch over night while they celebrated their anniversary at home. Save money, get to sleep in the comfort of your own bed, peace, quiet--sounds like a good idea. Unfortunately, the phone still rings, people still come to the door, and your son who just got his driver's license runs errands and stops in to get things they forgot. All in all, they had a peaceful evening and relaxing breakfast, but it didn't feel like getting away. We enjoyed their family though. We had pizza and grandpa made them a shake. (Justyn was trying to read his scriptures amid our noise) Jer and Liz and family have been staying with us during the weekends while they are working on their house. It has been a huge project and still lots left to do, but they are making progress. I got to be an emergency back up for Tom and Kristy a week ago. The girls got to come spend some time with us also. They were fun. It was such a hot day that they kept cool playing in the water. Posing! There was something wrong with my camera again. (every time a little person gets a hold of it!)--no colors! Running down the hill I think Tom was horrified when he came and picked them up and found they were not only wet but they were in the sand box. Say what you will about sand, it sure makes kids happy, creative and entertained. Our last visitor was unwelcome! I didn't get a picture, because John was chasing me through the house with it!!!! Apparently Lucky used his hunting skills and found a snake in the back yard. He played with it for a long time and then decided to see if it tasted good. The kids were all excited to tell me of Lucky's find. Lucky obliged and show me, with the snake hanging out of his mouth--absolutely disgusting! That is when John took over and decided to show me how the dead snake looked up close. He is so in trouble for that one! So, fun times!
